The Anchorage Museum is a place of ideas and transformation in a rapidly changing world. It is a place of narratives and perspectives, resilient and relevant communities working toward a better future for all.
The museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate and celebrates Alaska Native cultures through presenting voices, stories and cultural heritage pieces from the Smithsonian Institution. Art of the North and the history of Alaska combine throughout the museum, including our interactive all-ages Discovery Center, featuring marine life tanks, a planetarium, innovation spaces and more. We host many changing exhibitions each year in our galleries, exploring creative practice, history, and science from the North with connections to places, ideas and people around the world.
The Anchorage Museum sits on the traditional homeland of the Eklutna Dena’ina. The museum is committed to recognizing and honoring the land, culture and language of the Dena’ina people. We recognize and respect the continuing connection, by Alaska Native people and all Indigenous people, to the land, waters and communities.
