Announcing the Goverment Peak Enduro mountain bike race! For those of you who are unfamiliar with an Enduro here’s how it works: An Enduro consists of 3 to 5 timed stages which take place on technically demanding and generally downhill terrain. These stages are linked by predominantly climbing “transfer” stages.
Although the transfer stages are not timed or part of the race itself, there will be a time limit to complete them. Not to be confused with “endurance” racing, though some stamina is definitely required.
The route including transfer stages will be approximately 7-9 miles long and will include most of the singletrack trails at GPRA. VMBaH will be grilling food in the parking lot and a cold beverage from Bleeding Heart Brewery will be awaiting riders who are of age when they have completed the race.
Registration will be capped at 50 riders.
There will be a mandatory rider’s meeting at 1:30pm, and the race begins promptly at 2:00pm from the parking lot.
Entry fee will be $40 to cover event costs. Any proceeds will go directly to Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers to help build and maintain our trail systems.
The course utilizes multiple trails that have a “black diamond” difficulty rating, therefore there is no class for beginners. If you do not feel comfortable riding the “black diamond” rated trails at GPRA then this event is not for you. There will be three classes: Expert, Sport, and Women’s.
While there will be a team of volunteers timing each stage, we encourage you to download and run Strava as a backup in case there is an error. This is our first time doing this and mistakes are bound to happen.
The Dirt House (MTB suspension service) is offering a 10% discount on labor to everyone who signs up. Offer is good through November.
A big thanks to our sponsors!
